Tax Breaks for Volunteer First Responders

New legislation provides volunteer first responders with a 10% exemption on their county property taxes.

Pittsford Volunteer Fire Department is thankful for the support that our community has shown us. Thank you to the Pittsford Central School District Board of Education, The Pittsford Town Board, The Pittsford Village Board of Trustees, The County of Monroe and the Pittsford Board of Fire Commissioners for their passing of the legislation to allow property tax breaks for the Volunteer Firefighters.

Your support has given us another tool in the toolbox to recruit and retain dedicated volunteers to continue our tradition of being 100% volunteer. “Neighbors helping Neighbors”

Chief Matt Payne expressed his appreciation for the legislation and what it means to the fire department during a 13WHAM News interview – you can watch the video and read the article here.
